The Citizen’s Union committee election for September 2021 is starting, and I have been appointed as the Election Officer to run it. Here’s some basic info on how this will work.
CURRENT PHASE You may have noticed that the previous attempt at the nominations didn't go to plan, so we're redoing it. Nominations are beginning today, September 13th. Any citizen may nominate up to 3 other citizens by messaging WeatherCats on discord, the forums, or in game with their nominations. In order for a citizen to advance to the voting phase, they need to have gotten 2 nominations. A citizen may not nominate themself, and they may not use any nefarious means to gain nominations.
At 1PM EDT on September 18th, I will be opening up the voting phase. Any citizen can vote for their preferred candidates by messaging WeatherCats on discord, the forums, or in game with their vote. When voting, please rank your choices first through third. As before, a citizen may not vote for themself or use any nefarious means to gain votes. The voting phase will end at 11:59PM EDT on September 24th.
At the CU meeting at 1PM EDT on September 25th, the results will be revealed. The 6 citizens with the most votes will be chosen. In the case of a tie, the citizen(s) with the most votes listing them as the 1st preference gets elected. The new committee’s first meeting will be on September 25th. The current president (PresidentLime) will then choose the treasurer and secretary out of the new committee.
Please don't annoy others with your campaigns or spam your campaign in the various CV chats. Talking about it a couple times is okay, talking about it constantly isn't.

Is the Citizen’s Union officially endored by staff?
No. The Citizen’s Union is fully separate from server management.
What does the committee of the Citizen’s Union do?
The committee generally handles Citizen’s Union related topics, like event planning, how the CU should be run, etc.
Do retired staff count as citizens for the Citizen’s Union’s purposes?
Yes! Retired staff can vote on CU-related topics (including elections) and run for CU president/committee.
What if I don't want to participate? Is there some way to request to not be involved?
If you contact me saying you don't want to participate, then I will mark you as declined in the nominee list.
What if the player I nominated declined the nomination?
You will get one of your nominations back, and you can cast it on another citizen.

By the end of the original nomination period, nobody had opted-in. The nomination period is being restarted without opt-in requirement that was originally there.
