No, you need to be nominated to become a canidate, you just get nominated if people feel you'd do a good job,

Nomination list has been updated. The nomination process will close at 6pm US Eastern Time today. Get your nominations in now if you haven't already, and if you see your name on the list and do not want to be on the ballot for CU Committee election, please let me know so I can remove you.
